Watching the House Grow

Sunday

Watching the house grow certainly de-mystifies building. I am beginning to see how it all fits together. Mike and I went to the site this morning because he wanted to do some measuring. He knew the workers would be there and they were. Working on a Sunday is not ideal. I feel they need a break, but they are under the gun to get the next floor ready for concrete pouring on Wednesday. They need to finish the preparation by tomorrow so Mike and I can lay the conduits on Tuesday. Mike is very prepared, but he needed to make sure the down-light blocks went in the right place. So off we went. We found the workers hard at work with the ribs already in place…

I went to the next level up and took a photo from above…

And then went to where our floor would start and took another….

The wind is blowing in Cape Town today. It looks like it will be slightly less tomorrow morning, but will pick up again in the afternoon and that will be the pattern through to Wednesday.

We hung out there for a while. The neighbour on our Fish Hoek side lives in Germany and is here for three weeks. He is a civil engineer and spends his time renovating homes and selling them, so he is very interested in what is going on. He came out to have a look and he and Mike had a long chat about the funicular which will go between our houses. With him on board, it will make the funicular more financially viable and hopefully we will be able to get it done in the next couple of years.  While he and Mike were chatting, I had tea with David. 🙂

We came home at lunchtime and watched some golf, had lunch and a relaxing afternoon.  Soon, we will go back to see what the afternoon work looked like. We left with the men throwing blocks up…

The other thing that has happened is this…

It’s probably the earliest I have ever put our Christmas tree up. It’s nice to have it so early.

1 Corinthians 15:57

Thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

I went to gym early and spent an hour swimming. Crawl was hard work today. Backstroke and breast stroke were easier.
