The Quaintness of Swellendam

Sunday

Today I woke up around 6am and after taking David coffee, I went for a walk around the little neighbourhood we were staying in. The quaintness of Swellendam is very attractive. In parts it looks like something out of a picture book. The absence of the advanced security of Cape Town is obvious and the other striking feature is how well maintained everything is.

Even the old looks at home and in rustic order…

And then there was the purple house which looked like something out of Alice in Wonderland…

I discovered Friek YT is an Afrikaans Rock song by Willim Welsyn. Think Freak Uit! They also have a display of colourful stones on their kerb and a garden full of similar colours and decorations.

And here is Friek YT’s backyard..

Unusual but beautifully maintained.

After my walk, we packed up, returned the keys to my friendly host Anel and went to Stacey and Adrian to say goodbye. After  a little chat, we headed back towards Cape Town. We stopped at Riviersonderend for breakfast and then drove through to Peregrine where we picked up pies. From there, I took over the driving and we arrived home a smidgen after 12 noon.

I’ve had to do a bit of work this afternoon but am now enjoying just chilling. Good to be back home safe and sound. #Grateful.

It was super driving with David and spending time with him. And what a treat to see both my children at once. The rarity of the occasion of sitting with them yesterday to have a snack at Buffeljags was not lost on me.

Psalm 37:11

The meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,
