The Gym Decision

Wednesday

Today was the day…

I think I made a decision to cancel my gym membership!  Since we moved form that side to Fish Hoek, it’s harder to go to gym because it’s further away. I’ve got to try get back into an exercise routine, so this morning, bright and early (around 6:30am), with the wind blowing, Mike and I set off for the beach. We walked to the lighthouse, looped around to Fish Hoek Main Rd, back to the beach and then along Simon’s Town rd to the lookout before turning for home again. It was 1 hour and 10 minutes of exercise with my heart rate going up to 151 max. That’s all I need. So now I need to do it again tomorrow morning. Got to get into an exercise routine to cancel my gym membership.

After showering, Mike and I had breakfast on the balcony. We watched Rob’s men walk up the 100 steps a few doors down, then across the mountain path behind us, before climbing the hill to his plot to do more clearing. No easy task that’s going on up there.

While I was behind close doors working, Mike did a few chores. He took tiles back to CTM. Because they were older than 6 months, CTM didn’t want to pay us out, but how can that be with Covid and all? Eventually they were persuaded and took them back. It means the garage at Echo is finally almost clear enough to park a car.

Meanwhile this evening, our headboard is going up. We only got it back from the old house this afternoon! Here it is just waiting…

And up! It’s looking a little grubby amidst all the new-ness, but Mike says he’ll give the frame a coat of white paint and it will look good as new.  We also need a picture above it.

We still need bedside tables and a desk for me. Mike is going to make those so they will take a bit of time, but will be worth it because they will be perfect for our needs.

Today my sister Anne had chemo 4 and it went off without a hitch. Her blood tests were fine. 4 down, 8 to go. One third through!

Psalm 73:26

My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever.

The best is yet to come.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

Helga xx 🙂
