Relaxing Day at Sea

It’s clear the Atlantic Ocean is far wilder than the Indian Ocean and that both are a far cry from the tame Mediterranean. Mike and I woke early this morning. It was 5-30am when we headed up to the top deck to get some exercise. It was blowing gales. The wind was strong and cold. So we went down one level and walked around the deck 10 times. By then the gym was open and we completed our hour’s exercise indoors.

The ship we are on is the MSC Musica and it’s massive. Our cabin at the moment is about where the faint red circle is…

It’s amazing that when photographed from the balcony, the sea doesn’t look that far down…

No sea sickness pills today. I have my sea legs. While the swells seem enormous, the good ship Musica handles them very well. A short while ago we saw what I thought was a tiny yacht. I had bought my binoculars and Mike and I looked at it through them. Tiny to the naked eye and small through the binoculars. In reality it was a full on ocean-going vessel. Tiny in comparison to us. The ship must have looked an impressive site from the yacht itself. We couldn’t see anyone on it.

We are travelling at about 29km/hour and edging our way towards Durban where we expect to arrive at 1pm tomorrow. We will stay on board. There’s not much that MSC have not got a solution for. The arrival in Durban is later than originally scheduled and many had booked flights that will now be missed. A meeting was held and those affected lined up for rescheduling. No small task.

Julian and his friends join the ship tomorrow for the cruise to the Portuguese Islands. We will stay on board  but have been told to watch out for ship mail to explain proceedings. We apparently will be directed through immigration to have our passports stamped.

I am feeling very privileged to be able to do this. The internet has been fantastic. They have improved that since we last cruised. It almost makes me think if it were a longer cruise, I could easily work from here. Imagine that! Cruises are not for everyone, but they certainly suit me. I love my life at home. I love my life on the ship too.

2 John 1:3

Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.
