Patio Nearly Done

Tuesday

Today was the day…

We made massive strides on the patio outside the front door. It looked like this last week…

This evening it looks like this….

Wait for tomorrow’s photo!

It took a while to get to this stage today. The levels were all wrong and mid-morning Mike called me, “If you want your patio finished, we need more sand.” There is sand on the lower patio so I committed myself to 10 trips, carrying two small bucket-loads. Mike carrying his load…

One more step…

That was an accidental photo and a telling one. According to my physio, my knee should be over my foot.

A few hours after the 10 trips, I was called out again to bring more. I did 5 more trips. This is the patio taken from the side balcony while work was in progress.

Tomorrow is Courage’s last day for the year. He is so excited.

Today, I put in the final supplies in the cottage and this afternoon the guests arrived. It’s the first time we’ve had 3 beds in the loft. You can see two of them here. The third is on the left under the front windows…

This family arrived from Johannesburg, driving down and overnighting in Beaufort West. They unexpectedly bought a trailer with them, so I asked one of the neighbours if they could leave it in his guest carpark. He said it was fine. I’ve never asked before. Folks on this street – we are all a bit possessive over our parking spaces – parking is tricky!

I didn’t do too much work, but I’ll catch up tomorrow.

It’s a beautiful evening. Julian arrived for two weeks.

I read such a great Bible verse in Jonah today. It’s one of the reasons I read the Bible from cover to cover every year. There are these gems that remind me of what’s important. There was Jonah inside the whale, crying out to God with this  heartfelt prayer.  Then just before the end of the prayer, he says…

Jonah 2:8

Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.

Such was the message he would take to Nineveh, and as valid today as it was then.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
