Couch Returns Home

Friday!

Let me say that again – FRIDAY!!! 💃

I met with my friends this morning, did some shopping and worked.

The main thing that I had lined up was to pay for the couch upholstery and arrange for it be taken back to Echo. David said he would be there until 7pm. I said it should be there by then as I had paid for it just before 6pm and Tony the transport guy was going to pick it up shortly after. Everything ran late. David had to leave, so I went down to meet Tony at Echo.

I’m on my way to the house when I suddenly think that this is actually quite an unwise plan. I am putting myself in a vulnerable position. A complete stranger is meeting me at the house where I will be letting him in with me alone.  Not a good idea. I recently joined the local NHW, so I contacted the Combat Force guy on duty and told him my predicament. He arrived at the same time as Tony the transport guy and waited until Tony had left. It was so helpful and I really appreciated it.

I had to help Tony carry the two couch parts onto the deck. Then for some strange reason, my house key wouldn’t go into the lock. The couches were on the deck. Tony left. I could unlock the security gate but I couldn’t get the key into the  lock of the front door. 🙄

Then I realised David  had left the door unlocked, so I walked straight in.  I tried the key on the inside of the door and it worked, but I couldn’t get it into the outside lock.

I still had the two couch parts on the deck….they got a bit of white residue on them from the wall as Tony and I lugged them up the stairs.

Anyway, it was time to call Mike. He came down and we maneuvered couch parts into the house. At last the couch was home and assembled…and it looks great.

Now Mike had to sort out the lock. Oh, all it needs is a bit of oil. We found some furniture oil and Mike oiled it. Worked perfectly.

Then we walked up to the back and had a look at the day’s work…putting steel frame in the box for the back beam…

The third level is beginning to take shape…

Mike also met with the builder and engineer today and finalised the exact requirements for this floor and the top floor. Everyone parted company happy. The complexities of this build cannot be overlooked. It’s not an easy build and everyone has to apply their minds and calculations in order to get it right. Engineer is happy and the builder is happy and Mike is happy.

Can you imagine how happy I am then?

Now I’m sitting watching the Federer and Nadal match  (it’s probably over – I’m watching delayed!)

I’m grateful for this day. It’s been a good one.

The Bible verse in my diary for this day is one I memorised when I was a teenager:

Proverbs 16:3

Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans.

I went through my days committing to the Lord whatever I was doing so He would establish my plans. And He did.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
