A Bit of a Hectic Day

Thursday

It’s been a bit of a hectic day today and I didn’t get to go and visit my granite which is what I wanted to do. In the end there was too much work, which is always a good thing.

Also, happily David’s police clearance certificate has been located. The police clearance department in South Africa has got sort of organised service until it comes to getting the finalized police clearance certificates back to the recipients. Then it crashes. David applied for his police clearance in the middle of September. It was registered in Pretoria on 14th October. It was finalised on 1st November. It is 12th December and it still has not arrived at Fish Hoek police station. 😡

Eventually, yesterday I called the head office call centre in Pretoria and got through to an AMAZING lady called Captain van der Nest. She explained that there were major issues in the postal section of the department and a lot of police clearance certificates were not going out. She said that she would go to the department after 4pm yesterday and see if the Fish Hoek parcel had left. If not, she would fish out David’s PCC and reserve it for courier collection. I just had to call again today. So this morning I started calling. Pressing ‘redial’ every time the number wasn’t answered. Eventually I got through and spoke to someone else who looked up David’s application and then went and had a word with Captain van der Nest. She had found it! I was so relieved. I immediately called the company that could collect it and get it attested. That was a huge win for the day!

But prior to that, we went down to Fish Hoek to see how the second level was doing after the concrete had been poured…looking from the sea side towards the kitchen area.

This afternoon, we also went to have a look, but there’s no walking on it now as it’s covered with plastic…

This evening we have load shedding. Having solar makes all the difference, especially because the power went out at 6pm and was due to come back on at 8-30pm, but it’s now after 9pm and it’s still off. This I know because our microwave is off.  Apparently, according to our security group, the delay is to a fault with the reconnection. It should come on shortly.

Psalm 147:7-8

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praises on the harp to our God, who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the mountains.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
