Why I Don’t Want To Say, “I Don’t!”

10-31am

It’s been 26 years, 5 months and 2 weeks since I said, “I Do!” Last night as I readied myself for bed, Mike arrived in my bedroom with tea for me. It got me thinking about how much I love him and why. Why I don’t want to say, “I Don’t!”

Without Mike, my life would very empty & far less secure!

10 quick reasons why I love him…

1. He shows his love for me in practical ways – eg making tea for me at the end of the day, phoning me from the office to say hello and to just touch sides with me & taking time off to support me.

2. He is generous to me – he makes sure I have what I need and he is a great provider & makes me feel safe.

3. He is romantic! This is a BIG plus! He loves romance and humours me by recording endless ‘chick-flicks’ & a lot of the time, he doesn’t mind watching them with me.

4. He has a great sense of humour – Mike laughs at the smallest things. It is very easy to make him laugh – he’s a comedian’s joy. I love telling him funny things that have happened just to hear him roar with laughter and something that really only deserves a giggle! When he laughs, I laugh.

5. Supportive  – we are a great team. I care for Granny in ways he can’t, but he’s never far away, asking if there is anything he can do.

6. He has made many allowances for me. When I married him, I was 21 and he was 35! He allowed me to grow up, mature and blossom. He did not try and control me. He encouraged me in all my endeavours, even if he really thought they wouldn’t work! He makes allowances for mood swings and hormonal changes. He never freaks out or walks out, but holds me tight and encourages me.

7. He respects me. He has respect for my opinions. He doesn’t disregard what I say. He listens to me.

8.  He knows me sometimes better than I know myself & therefore meets my needs, selflessly, in big ways and small.

9. He is humble! More than 27 years ago, when I made a list of the attributes I wanted in my future husband, humility was one of them. Mike has remained humble throughout our married life. He is an amazing example to me.

10. He is a great man of faith, who knows where he is going when he dies. He knows the Lord in a deep and meaningful way and I am attracted to that more than any of his other attributes.

And that is why I love my husband! 🙂

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
