Granny’s in Frail Care

1-38pm

The main event for today was to take Granny to the Ladies Christian Home where she is to spend 4 nights. We broke the news to her the other evening. I told her Mike & I were going away for the weekend, to which she replied, ‘that’s fine.’ She cannot articulate very well, so when she does say a phrase or entire sentence, it’s refreshing! I then told her that she was going to the Ladies Christian HomeΒ  and she said “Oh.”Β  I said, ‘there are no men there!’Β  I said she would be very happy there to which she replied, ‘I’m scared,’ followed by ‘will I fit?’ We get very used to our environment and don’t like change. I reminded her yesterday that I was taking her today. I got home about 10-30am and cheerfully asked her if she was ready. ‘Yes,’ she said. I got her suitcase and bought it through. “Where are you going?” she asked!! “No, Mom, not me, YOU!” πŸ™‚

Anyway, we merrily left for Cape Town, and drove over Ou Kaapse Weg, where this had just happened…..

Oops

It was the only car involved and it seemed no one was hurt. It wasn’t there on my return.

We soon arrived at our destination…

Ladies Christian HomeAnd Granny got settled in her room…one of the little blessings is that the nurse on duty for today is named Mavis…Granny liked that! Familiarity! πŸ™‚

Granny Pat LinsdayThat’s the manager Pat next to Granny (Hi Pat!! Thank you for looking after Granny!) and Lindsay who is the General Manager! The people are just so friendly. Granny looked at me a bit bewildered and asked, “Am I staying here?” So I explained again for 4 nights and I showed her the mountain view from her window and she said it will be fine. We all took her to the dining room and then I said goodbye.

You can imagine I have come home and it is SO quiet and the house very empty. Mike will be home shortly too! He has a LONG weekend. I’ll do the show tomorrow morning and go right home afterwards. πŸ™‚

The sunrise this morning was spectacular….

Sunrise

Psalm 113:3 “From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised.”

Keep Praising!

And while I was taking the sunrise photo, I notice Barry and Jeremy arriving at work…

Barry and Jeremy arrivingWow! I just have a little show prep to finish and then I’m OFF for the rest of the day! Let me see if I can get it done and dusted by 2-15pm

God bless you loads!

Come back tomorrow to see where Mike & I are for the weekend!

In His Grip,

Helga xx πŸ™‚
