What Winter is This?

Saturday

Today was the day…

Winter packed up her chill and hibernated, sending sunshine and warmth to replace any semblance of the drizzle that was here a couple of days ago. It was as splendid as any summer’s day could be – better even as it arrived with not a breath of wind.  Julian came down for breakfast dressed for summer. He stood on the balcony admiring the day.

He regularly comments on how cold it is in Johannesburg compared to Cape Town…

Yup. 27C in Cape Town today and tomorrow as good. And this, the middle of winter with Monday being the shortest day – winter solstice.  It’s 5:30pm and the sun is setting…

This morning we went to the beach. The conditions were wonderful except under water visibility was poor. The water was quite murky and sandy. I swam out to the barrel and watched the stand up paddlers trying to navigate round the barrel. It’s very tricky trying to keep balanced while going around and many of the paddlers wobbled as they turned. Two fell off. I noticed but looked away so they wouldn’t be too embarrassed. It is fun being close up to them. The water temperature was 14.9C. I don’t know if I will be swimming for a full 30 minutes when the temperature is down at 11C.

Back home we had a cooked breakfast for a change. That was good.

A bit of work, a bit of washing, a bit of beading, a bit of shopping, a bit of cooking and now the day is at its end.

I wouldn’t mind extending it a little – eke out the marrow of this beautiful day.

Psalm 143:10

Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.

Great prayer to pray.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
