Monday
Today was the day…
Mike and I returned to our normal exercise routine. As I swam out to my friendly blue barrel, happy that the shark net had been put out, I felt it was a bitter sweet excursion. I was beginning to understand what will drive me out the water.
The temperature of the water was bitterly cold. One of the locals, Joe, said it was 13C.
I remember endurance cold water swimmer Lewis Pugh saying he has two forms of exercise. When he can’t do one, he can do the other. His are swimming and surf-skiing. I guess mine can be swimming and walking.
And it was with these thoughts that I half said farewell to the blue barrel and planned a winter of alternate exercise.
But then I thought it such a pity because the shark net is in place and the sea is calm and swimming conditions excellent. How about if I get a springsuit?
And if I get a bright colour, I’ll be more visible. So, I need soon to visit a place that sells such things and get my springsuit going. Yay! I can swim through winter! I think I may be rushing off to do this sooner rather than later.
This morning, I only managed just over 1km and was out within 30 minutes. Even Mike was surprised.
A little rain was forecast for today but it didn’t materialise. A breezy north wind has flattened the sea and hints at a possible overnight shower. There are a few clouds around.
I worked more than 8 hours.
There is nothing for supper, so Mike and I are going to take a walk to the village to do some shopping.
Isaiah 26:12
Lord, You establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished You have done for us.
That is the truth.
The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
