Going from Miss to Mrs

Sunday

Today was the day…

Mike and I woke up feeling a whole lot better. Not wildly hungry still, but definitely on the mend.

Also, today was the day, I found our Antenuptial Contract! Back in 1986, we were advised to marry out of community of property and if you did so, you signed an ANC. When we bought Echo Cottage, it was put in both Julian’s and my name – only they made me ‘unmarried’. Suddenly, the rates were coming to Miss Helga van Niekerk. I took it up with the legal firm who did the transfer and they (after some time) admitted the error was theirs. After all, when would I ever put on any legal document that I was single? It was bizarre that the fault could have lain with me.  They agreed to amend the documents but I asked for them to delay it until our build was complete. When that had happened, I asked for them to go ahead. They proceeded, asking for ID and then our marriage certificate and finally for our Antenuptial Contract which I could not find. We have a file with all our personal documents but it didn’t appear in the primary one. How could it have been taken out? I was at a loss for where it was. And you know what it’s like when you are looking for something urgently? I went through file after file after file. Couldn’t find it. I then went across to the old house to look through files left there. Still no success. The law firm, meantime, was on my case weekly, asking if I’d found the missing document. Eventually, they wrote to me and said, ‘we hope you find it, let us know when you do.’

Today, with no stress, I was looking for the invoice for our scaffolding so that we can buy another level. We bought this years ago and I thought I’d seen it ‘somewhere’. I opened each file and went through the contents. As I was going through the second last one in the box, suddenly there it was! Not the scaffolding invoice, but the Antenuptial Contract!

Yay! Now I can go from Miss to Mrs.

Mike and I took a casual walk to the beach. No serious exercise today. Tide was low. Looking from the beach to the balcony…

From the balcony to the beach…

On our return home, we had a video chat with Elsie and Stacey before they went off to the park. Elsie is getting so big!

We spent the rest of the day quietly. Mike had a snooze. I did some reading.

I also filled up the bird bottle. Those who read Facebook, tell me the red food colourant is bad for the birds, so I am moving from this…

To this…brown sugar, no colourant.

I didn’t need to wait long before approval was given…

It’s been a perfectly still day today. Lovely cool overcast autumn day. Our friends are coming for dinner and I’ve got to go and get ready.

Philippians 4:6

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.

Amen!

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
