For the last 9 days I have been trying to get Medical Aid to pay some of my initial braces payment of R10 500. It was an additional R3600 for the ceramic brackets which make them a whole lot less noticeable. I knew MA would not pay for the ceramics. I was waiting with anticipation to see how much they would pay for the initial amount. At first the ICD10 code was wrong, so it was denied. Then it was denied again for some reason, so I contacted the orthodontic receptionist and she reissued the invoice.
Today they paid. I couldn’t believe it. I went down to Mike’s study and asked him how much he thought they would pay of the R10 500. He said R2000. Look!
They paid the whole R10 500! Isn’t that a blessing? So unexpected. I don’t know why they paid so much. They say they will pay up to R27000 so I guess once that amount has been paid out they stop paying. I’ll take what we can get.
#960 of my 1000 thanks is for that payment. Yay!
We had breakfast with Julian this morning and then I came home, got changed and went to gym.
Five and a half hours of work followed. Part of work was the identification of a massive scam that a teacher had encountered in their quest to work directly with a so-called school group in the UAE. He had received an offer that was too good to be true. If something is too good to be true, it probably is. I told him that the next step would be for them to send a list of initial costs – visa costs etc. He must not pay them a cent. Sure enough about half an hour later, he got an email asking for thousands of US dollars for various relocation costs, some of which would be reimbursed. It was all a plot to scam him out of money. If you are to go and teach overseas, there should be no visa costs for you. The school covers all of that. The only thing you need to pay for is the attestation of your documentation and possibly a medical screening. Use a reputable agency, like Edvectus. It was a good reminder to me (and the teacher) that there are fraudsters out there and they are rife.
We had a lovely dinner at the Blue Water Cafe at Imhoff. The food is really good and we enjoyed it.
Now it’s time for me to call it a day. I have to be up early in the morning, because the gym has allowed me the last week of this contract to be any time, so I can go earlier than 8am. If I get into a slightly earlier routine, it will be a great help to get gym out the way earlier in the day.
Romans 12:6
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
