What Does a Caracal Look Like?

Monday

Today was the day…

We didn’t go for an early swim. There wasn’t too much wind but it was chilly. Also Mondays are busy days for me and the engineer was paying us a visit about Mike’s plan for a retaining walls and foundations for more water tanks. It was a great relief that we didn’t go, because I sent a message to the cottage guests asking what time they were checking out. They had a night flight tonight and I wanted to say goodbye. I expected them to say at 2pm. Instead they said, ‘in ten minutes!’ They were going for some final sightseeing, so I dashed downstairs and said my goodbyes. They hope to return in January. That was the plan, until about 5:45pm, when I got a call from them from the airport. There had been a paperwork problem and they had to cancel their flight. Could they come back to us? Fortunately, the next guests are only due in on Friday. We had already stripped the bed and done the laundry, but that was no problem. We quickly went downstairs, turned the electricity and the fridge back on, made up the bed and put in clean towels etc. I also left the outside light on. I don’t know how long it will be before they make an appearance. Anyway, it’s no problem having them back.

I worked more than 7 hours. Mike and I took a walk to Fish Hoek for a little shopping.

This evening I got carried away looking at Cape caracal photos on the Caracal project Facebook page. This one was sighted this morning on Chapman’s Peak Drive. Amazing.

They say they come across Chappies to hunt rock hyrax (like a dassie) and sea birds.

This one is tagged. His name is Hermes and he is often spotted on the Table Mountain Trails.

These three are wondering around Kirstenbosch. Check the paws!

Cats to keep a look out for. It’s those ears that are the tell-tale features.

A full Monday.

Ephesians 1:3

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
