What a Day!

Monday

Yesterday I was trying not to stress over two things – the first was how to manage the half tonne chunk of granite and the other was Mike’s plan to do the electrics for the new build!

Fast forward 24 hours and both issues are just about resolved.

We don’t really know how much this building is going to cost us. We do know that when you build a house there are a lot of unexpected costs that often crop up. To offset these, Mike decided to save a bunch of money by doing the electrics himself. Today we had to go and put the basement conduiting in ahead of the first concrete which is poured tomorrow. By lunchtime, we were there. We spent three hours putting the piping in place. We had to go back a few hours later as the workmen still needed to put final mesh down and we would tweak our earlier work.

I have to admit it was quite surreal actually working there. At one stage I felt quite emotional. I can’t believe this is really happening! I was Mike’s assistant, passing him stuff and doing minor things like securing the conduit with cable ties. This was my work view…

Mike putting in the copper for earthing…

Our first plug points…

Mike making them secure…

And now we are ready for concrete…

Meanwhile, we contacted a few granite companies. One of them came back to us with a quote and we have accepted it. Werner, our builder, says we are brave to do the counter tops this way but it is a risk that may pay off. That’s that sorted.

Tomorrow, the cement truck is due to arrive at 7-30am so we will trundle down there early to watch proceedings.

On top of all of this, believe it or not, I got a few hours of work done.

What a day! It’s been an exciting one. I’m going to wrap up my blog and then put the day’s invoices on the spreadsheet.

Psalm 4:3

Know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; the Lord will hear when I call to Him.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

I also got to gym. I went at just before 7am – Walked for 30 minutes, then did the super circuit and a whole lot of other weight machines.
