A Significant Day

Tuesday

Today was certainly significant. We left home early and got to the building site just before 8am to find this standing outside…

A full complement of workers were setting up the pump pipes on site…

The process began and I filmed it. It’s very boring watching concrete being cast, but for us it was an exciting day…

Just about an hour later and it was done…

By the end of the day it looked like this…

This forms the bottom of the house. It’s the basement floor. Walls will be built up around it and on top of it the next level will be built. That level will be a little self-contained unit. Above that will be our floor and above that will be Julian’s. So this is the start. Yesterday when we were working there, some of the workers were angle grinding something higher up the plot. I went to have a look. Right at the corner of the house, by the main front door is this rock…there’s a little red iron peg just in front of the rock next to a stone. That marks the corner of the house. The men were trying to angle grind this rock out. We’ll have to get the engineer in to see if it can stay. We have had very few of them to interrupt our process.

With the morning’s work over, the workers went home early. They had earned it. After all they worked Sunday.

This afternoon Werner came over and a long discussion was held about the next phase which pretty much starts immediately. This phase is nearly over – and will move seamlessly into the next one. We are really happy with the progress so far.

We are hoping by Christmas to have the slab cast for our floor.

It was a busy day, punctuated by a lovely catch up with my friend Sandy.

Mike is now making spaghetti bolognaise and I am looking forward to eating it!

Psalm 4:3

Know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; the Lord will hear when I call to Him.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,
