Wedding Time – 2pm

Monday

Today is the day…

…of our 35th Wedding anniversary.

On the morning of our wedding – 9th August 1986 – Mike and I met for breakfast at the restaurant that used to be on the mezzanine level of Golden Acre. Afterwards, we said good bye on Adderley Street. He walked one way and I walked the other. “I’ll see you at the altar!”

It’s wedding time! It’s exactly 2pm that I’m writing this and that was the time of our wedding. I got to the church pretty much on time. The wedding ended at about 3pm and we had an afternoon tea reception before leaving for honeymoon. We went to the Strand for dinner and then drove through to Betty’s Bay where we spent the weekend. Then we drove to Wilderness for a couple of nights before spending a night at Carmel ahead of walking the Otter Trail. We were away three weeks in all.

The big significant thing about our 35th wedding anniversary is, at last, Mike has been married for as long as he was single. I was 42 when that milestone passed. Mike has had to wait for 70! We are so, so grateful that we have been able to reach this day in good health. We appreciate our health each and every day.

Today I took the day off work and we went to Scarborough.  We walked along the Main Rd. With all the rain we’ve had, it looked like English countryside.

Up the hill…

And this view…

And then down to Camel Rock cafe…

Lovely breakfast…

It was altogether good. We took the long way home past Cape Point and through Simon’s Town, picking up some groceries on the way.  A really restful afternoon is ahead. Mike is sleeping. I’m about to make coffee and do some beading. It is a day off.

Blog is done nice and early.

Siamo Benedetti!

2 Timothy 1:7

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx
