1-41pm
Today, I rose early and enjoyed the inky dawn…
…followed by a cloudy sunrise…
9-30am found us at the Lakeside Chapel, the interdenom church in Betty’s Bay. We enjoyed the service, made poignant by the leader’s announcement at the conclusion that he will no longer be able to continue with his duties as minister of the congregation. He is stepping down at the end of July. Contributing factors include the recent loss of his wife and ill health. We sensed a lot of pain and when we think of Danie Pretorius we will pray for him
After the service we went to the Tides Restaurant for lunch. Last time we were in Betty’s Bay, we stepped in there on the Saturday evening and were not very warmly welcomed. They told us they were fully booked. So yesterday I phoned and tried to book for last night but was told they were full, so I booked for lunchtime today. Not many restaurants in these parts are sold out, so we were curious as to the great attraction.
When we arrived, once more, we were not greeted warmly. We were briefly shown to our table. Mike wanted the oxtail but it was sold out! We were curious as to their cool manner but thought maybe it was just us.
This is the interior of Tides…we were first to arrive…
…it get’s 4 1/2 stars on Trip Advisor. This was my view…
This is the menu…
Mike ordered the lamb chops….
…which he said were a bit dry. I ordered the sole…
…which was absolutely delicious! 🙂 YaY! There were about 4 or 5 tables still available when 4 people arrived. They walked up to the table next to us to sit down but were hurriedly stopped by the waitress with the words, “Did you book?” “No,” they said. She then showed them to a slightly cramped bench in a corner. The four felt snubbed and left without another word. Hmm! When we left at 1-30pm (the restaurant closes at 2pm), there were still 2 other formal tables of 4 available as well as the bench. Maybe the bookings didn’t arrive, which would be a right pain. The people that run it are not cool to everyone. Clearly some regulars have made their mark and they are greeted with hugs and salutations of interest and gladness! 🙂 All very strange! I think they could learn a few things from the guy who runs Longbeach Ocean Basket. Friendliness personified. Now I just need to learn his name!
Dealing with people is not always easy. Everyone is on their own journey, having to deal with issues at home and at work. We need to make allowances for one another and try and be as nice as possible. Â I’m not sure if we will go to Tides again, but if we do, I will make sure I book ahead and book the oxtail as well!
1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.”Â
Don’t expect others to love you – just make it your goal to love them.
God bless you loads!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
