Betty’s Bay Beach Scramble…

4-38pm

Today has been an ideal day. We woke latish, went out for breakfast, lazed around most of the morning and then at 1-50pm, we left for a beach walk, planning to walk to Stony Point to see the Penguins.

We past fishermen…plenty of them…

Fishermen

…along white sandy beaches….

…over rocks and through smelly seaweed, alive with the sound of buzzing flies and crawling insects….

Over rocks and through seaweed

…all against a backdrop of magnificent mountains…

Soon our initial destination was in sight…

This is looking back from whence we had come…

Oops! We didn’t have R20…

But up the boardwalk we went anyway…

And these three fellows came to say hello….

Back past the historic Betty’s Bay Slipway…

As we had only been walking an hour, we continued on what became quite a rock and bush scramble….

On we scrambled

Eventually we ran out of path and so walked up a path from the sea and found ourselves in someone’s garden….

Someones house

This is their view….

Their gate was locked so to get out we had to climb over….and now you get to see me in Mike’s shorts (I forgot to bring shorts!)

After walking on the road for a bit, we found our way back to the beach….

On we went

And arrived at our final destination…Bay Beach….

At that point, we turned around, got onto the road and jogged a good amount of the distance home. Mike went for a quick swim. I had a cold shower. And now I feel great. Mike has just made coffee. Tonight we are intending to have dinner out. It’s been beautiful weather, with hardly a breath of wind and a bit of cloud cover. Perfect.

The cell phone reception here is far better than at home, so I took advantage of it and phoned my friend Debbie. Those who have followed by blog, will remember my long time friend (known her since Grade 2) who had a riding accident in January.  She is making good progress. Although her vision is still blurred she is able to see better. She is beginning to walk. Her speech is slow, but not too bad.  She says she has some memory lapses, but generally, after speaking to her for 20 minutes, I am positive that in time, she will return to normal. She is tenacious and determined and has loads of support.  She is never far from my thoughts. She nearly died.  My beloved Debbie!! The Lord will sustain you!

Psalm 16:8 “I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

Part of my reading today, has been this little book, Inspirational bookwhich was given to us at the BI 90th birthday last Saturday. A life-changing, raising the bar, focused on Christ, read, the story of R.C. Chapman has made me even more determined to settle some issues deep in my heart. Let Christ’s love prevail at every turn in my journey; may the principles of His Word forever be my guiding light; may every radio show I present, every blog that I write, every relationship I forge, in some way reveal the love and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Without Him, I am nothing. With Him, my life has eternal purpose. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

God bless you loads!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
