We Almost Bought a Car

Saturday – this is a blog for the family! It’s really family news.

Today was the day…

We went to Somerset West to look at a car which we almost certainly will buy. The other day however, we almost bought a car. Mike literally was on the point of pulling the trigger on the purchase but chose to ‘sleep on it’. Good advice. He woke up in the dead of night and started looking up its measurements because it has to fit in a pretty tight garage that must also accommodate Julian’s motorbike. The car we are to buy is to replace Mike’s Hyundai i10 which is a super city car but it’s time for it to make way for something with less mileage. Mike has been talking about getting a Suzuki Ignis for at least a year. Last year, we even went into a Suzuki dealership and looked at one. We were surprised at how hard the seats were. He put the decision on hold and many months have since past. Mike bought me my car (Hyundai i20) for my 50th birthday, so I said I was going to buy him one for his 70th birthday. Well his 70th came and went and he wasn’t ready for the purchase. Now he is. I have saved and saved and saved and saved and saved some more, so that I can do this expensive deed. Mike, wanting to economize couldn’t help being attracted to an amazing deal on a 6 year old Renault Captur which only had 38 thousand kilometers on the clock. The other day we went to test drive it and he loved it…

I took one look at it (liked the colour) but thought it was rather large for the i10 replacement, but Mike was swept away by the price and low mileage. He was super keen, until he slept on it and realised it was not going to easily fit in the garage, so he turned down the deal and went back to plan A – Suzuki Ignis. He trawled the car sites and finally found a demo model with 11000km on the clock.  The price was good, so off we went to Somerset West to test drive. Snow covered mountains greeted us…

The car did not disappoint and was as comfortable as our current car so I’m not sure why the seats of the demo model in Diep River were so hard. I am super excited about this! The branding, of course, will come off.

Hopefully, we’ll finish paperwork and payment soon and it will be delivered during the week. It will easily slot in beside the motorbike.

So that’s been a positive day.

Psalm 89:15

Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
