The Distant Snow

Sunday

Today was the day…

We saw the best snow we’ve ever seen on the distant mountains. It spread across the entire range from Hottentot Holland to Ceres. Of course a phone camera can’t do it justice, but you can see the white tips.

Here’s another photo from yesterday when we drove to Somerset West…

Photos from the internet came from loads of people. Cape Town weather posted one of snow on Table Mountain…

Matroosberg Reserve apologised they couldn’t answer all the phone calls coming into their line. They had a lot of snow and everyone wanted to know about it.

The photo of the week must be this one taken by Gavin Finlayson  with his massive telephoto lens. He took it from Fish Hoek between the life-saver’s booth and the clubhouse. It caused a lot of conversation on Facebook as it really looked seriously photoshopped but when Julian and I walked along the beach front today, we saw the position it was taken from. Gavin said he had enhanced the lighting to highlight the snow.

The day was clear and crisp and naturally quite chilly. We have not seen so much snow before in Cape Town. God has blessed us with amazing displays of snow on earth, so we can only wonder about the awesome scenes that await us in eternity.

Today was also the day the sun shone so Mike and I went to the beach. The water was not as cold as expected. I swam for 40 minutes which was a bit too long and I suffered for it. It took me most of the rest of the day to warm up!

We had a late lunch and then Julian and I walked to the shops for milk and some groceries. A new week.

Romans 8:28

We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx
