My current working position is as a freelancer. I don’t have an employer/employee contract or a fixed salary. I work and charge by the hour. If I work a lot, I earn more. December, I have worked a lot less, so I earn less. My relationship with the company I work for is excellent, but I don’t expect more from them apart from them paying me for what I bill them. So this morning, when I arrived home and found a surprise delivery, I was really happy. Completely unexpected, there was a bottle of sparkling wine, arranged through an online order company.
The saying goes, “it’s the thought that counts” and in this case that was absolutely it. I’m not a big sparkling wine drinker, but the fact that they thought about me; that the MD went to the trouble of organising it and arranging for it to arrive today was the special treat. I was really happy. It was very thoughtful of her and I wasted no time in writing her a thank-you note.
My job is unique in that I have yet to meet in real life any of my co-workers. I’ve spent hours Skyping with them and exchanged hundreds of emails, but I’ve never met them face to face. I’m looking forward to doing that one day.
The other gift we had today was rain!
It came down in lovely blustery showers, watering the lawn, refreshing the flowers and filling the tanks. We were so happy. We need rain so badly.
With a rainy day and it being nearly Christmas, it’s time to take some time off. My work is pretty much up to date and I can enjoy the weekend. I have two books to finish over the next week. The first is Jane Eyre – I am closing in on the end of that one. The second is the Bible. With only 8 days left until the end of 2016, I am nearing the end of the both the Old and the New Testaments. Verses from Zechariah caught my attention today.
Zechariah 4:6, 10
“Not by might, nor by power but by my Spirit” says the Lord Almighty.
Who despises the day of small things?
Two significant messages out of the Word of God. I don’t ever want to despise the day of small beginnings and I want my life to unfold by God’s Spirit and His guidance.
That’s the best way forward. Trusting God is the answer to all of life’s problems.
#139 of 1000 thanks – today I give thanks for a great relationship with my company. I appreciate them – they appreciate me.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
