Christmas in my Garden

Some years ago one of the CCfm listeners gave me a pot with a small cactus in it. She had grown it and it came as a gift to me. I put it on my patio and because it was a cactus, I pretty much could forget about it. About a year ago, I transplanted it. The flowers that had been in a hanging basket had died. I figured if anything was going to survive in the basket, it would be a cactus. So cactus went to live very plainly in the hanging basket. In time, it sprouted and one cactus became multiple little cacti. It certainly seemed to like its spot. Every now and again, I would water it. Imagine my surprise when I drove out of the garage the other day and glanced into the front garden to see the cactus was in bloom!

Isn’t that amazing? Who knew that cacti produce such beautiful flowers? Certainly not me.

#138 of my 1000 thanks – right there….my cactus has blossomed.

When I look at this cactus plant – all those little ones peeking up, I am like one of them. A plain little cactus, blending in with all my neighbours. Each of us have the potential to blossom – to produce something beautiful of our lives. Those magnificent flowers are a reminder to me that God can take something very ordinary and make it extra-ordinary.

I love that there are a couple more flowers to come. What a lovely Christmas gift in my garden.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

The best is yet to come!

Today we went to the nursery and bought a few more seed balls for my bird feeder. Now on my balcony I have two bird feeders – the seed one and what I call ‘bird juice’. I bought the mineral mixture that is supposed to be more bird friendly than sugar water and we have many little sun-birds visiting….

They are lovely to watch.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going!

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
