Two Near Misses

I arrived in Johannesburg after an uneventful flight. We took off from Cape Town in cloudy conditions and soon were flying above the clouds. They were thick fluffy, perfectly white clouds and seemed very close. I felt like hanging my arm out the window and dragging my hand through the clouds.

A little further north and the clouds gave way to a patchwork of farmlands far below. Zig zagging through mountain ranges a plethora of earthy-coloured shapes told the story of flourishing farmlands with rows of crops and paddocks of freshly ploughed rich brown earth.

And then we were higher, higher, higher and the earth below became a distance haze. I dozed off, dreaming that I was about to arrive in Cape Town! I woke with a start – what a relief. I was still Joburg bound. We landed in rain.

The rain will come for Cape Town.

Deuteronomy 11:14

“He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early and late rain, that you may gather in your grain and your new wine and your oil.”

#258 of my 1000 thanks is for such an opportunity as this! 🙂 and a safe arrival!

On arriving Jenny came to pick me up. She works for Julian. On the way from the airport we witnessed two near misses. One car, with a distracted driver, turned right at a traffic light and forgot to straighten out, so he kept on turning and climbed the kerb! The second near miss was more serious. There were two lanes and a car came up the right side of us – we were in the left lane. The car in front of us decided to turn right, not seeing the car that was now next to us, he turned right in front of him. The car had to ram on his brakes. It was so close!

Julian’s wifi is fast so work this afternoon has been great.

The golf last night was fabulous. When it went to sudden death I went to bed. I was so excited this morning to hear Sergio Garcia had won.

A busy day lies ahead of me tomorrow.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
