It’s Going To Be A Late, Late Night

There is one Sunday night of the year that always turns extremely late for Mike and tonight is it! It’s the Masters Golf final day and we are watching. There are a few South Africans who got through to the weekend, including Louis Oosthuizen and Ernie Els. Neither are doing so well, but Charl Schwartzel is! He is at -2 with the leaders at -6.

We will be watching!

I remember in years gone by Mike stumbling to bed at about 1am and needing to get up 4 hours later to go to work! Yay! He’s retired!

#257 of my 1000 thanks – Mike’s retired! He can stay up all night watching golf if he wants to!

Today I had quite a lot of work to do ahead of tomorrow’s business trip. I’m up to date now and had a good afternoon sleep, so I can stay up late as well!

Days just slip by. I think as we get older, we learn to live more intentionally, aware that we are running out of time!

There is a bigger perspective. Imagine a pencil line drawn around all of Table Mountain.

Imagine a dot on the pencil line.

.

Imagine that is the extent of our life here on earth.

Our life is like a grain of sand on Table Mountain. There is a LOT more to come. Eternity is a very long time.

Psalm 90:1-2

Lord, you have been our dwelling place  throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world,  from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

One day I won’t be sitting here tick-ticking away on my keyboard. The dimension of my life will be gone from this human form. An exciting, far, far more exciting life awaits. I don’t know what it will be like, but I do know that it will be far beyond anything I could ever imagine or dream.

Today I imagined my Dad in action in eternity.

Today, in a ghastly attack, ISIS bombed two Coptic churches in Egypt. My Dad loved the Coptic Christians. When I heard about the attack and the 47 people who died, I wondered if my Dad was on hand to meet them. Maybe he was in church as part of the ‘cloud of witnesses.’

We just don’t know what God has in store for those who love Him, but we do know it’s going to be OUT of this world! Literally and figuratively!

God doesn’t spare the magnificence of His creation here on earth ‘under the sun’. Can you imagine what He has planned for us in heaven ‘above the sun’?

I can’t.

The best is yet to come.

That I know.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

(And to think I sat at my computer and stared at a blank screen today, thinking, “what am I going to write?” – I just had to get started!)
