Two Mountain Walks

Monday

Dear Elsie

Today was the day I did two mountain walks. I woke early and it rained. It actually poured with rain which is very uncharacteristic for February. By lunchtime, it had cleared, so after I’d done most of my work, I walked to Fish Hoek to pick up a few groceries. On my way back, I went via Daisy Lane which has now been cut right back. No signs of daisies now…

I went home the mountain route and found this little friend grazing…

Further along, there’s this piece of hillside I just love. I walk across other peoples’ plots and one day they may be built upon and not open to the public, so I enjoy the walk while I can.

Home, lunch was had and then I had a little snooze. It was after that the real exercise happened. Julian and I went to walk up the steps to Just Nuisance’s grave.

340 steps but there was also quite a lot of stone pathway in between. It took us about as long as it’s expected for us to take if we get to climb Jacob’s Ladder on Saint Helena Island. Hey, the views from this staircase rivals anywhere in the world.

At the top, there is a memorial to those who lost their lives in WW1

And there is the grave of one of South Africa’s most famous dogs…

Views…

We live in a beautiful city – that is for sure.

Psalm 50:1
The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
