Two Building Steps Forward

Today two things happened related to the building of our house on the mountainside.  We got notification from the City that we needed to pay 5 amounts for storm water, water, solid waste, sewerage and transport and roads, all amounting to R23 128.41. It was a big step – it means they have given the first murmur of approval for a second dwelling on the property. There were no bank details on the invoices, so Mike went down to the municipal building in Fish Hoek and started paying each one. My cell phone buzzed madly as each notification came through. Then it buzzed a whole lot more as each payment was reversed! Mike called me with a phone number to phone. Turns out the municipal card  machine was faulty, so we had all the proof of payment but nothing had come off. I phoned our bank to check and they said, it’s all been reversed back into your account. So irritating. We’ll try again tomorrow.

Meantime, Werner, the builder stopped by to go through a few things with us. There were three areas on the plans for which he needed confirmation. Mike agreed with everything. The next step is for a surveyor to plot out the building on the land so Werner knows exactly where to dig. As soon as the surveyor has been, clearing of the plot should begin. Watch this space…

We are so excited!

Today the morning was frenetic. When I left for gym, I had 6 emails. When I returned I had 31. It was overwhelming. I soon discovered that I didn’t need to do anything with most of them just yet. They were information emails and confirmation is still needed. It should come through over the next day or two.

I’ve just got off the phone to Stacey. So lovely to speak to her.

It’s the end of the day. Tomorrow is Mike’s 68th birthday. 🙂

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.
