Trump Wins

Last night the prediction was 11% chance that Donald Trump would win.

The world awakens today – 9th November 2016 to the unexpected Brexit-like news that Donald J Trump will be the 45th President of the United States.

I’m not American, so my whole perspective is one that is molded by the television news media.

Hillary Clinton lost. Don’t blame her. The loss should be carried by the entire ‘political establishment’. If Brexit is anything to go by, American voters, like their British counterparts protested against more of the same – they wanted change. According to Google, before Barack Obama came to power 8 years ago, America’s national debt was so high that to wipe it out each and every American would need to pay a once off $21 000. If everyone did that, the national debt would be gone. Of course, it is such a high figure it’s not a possibility.

The shocker is that now, the national debt has more than doubled. To wipe it out, every American would need to pay $41 000.  See the National Debt Clock for the real figures. It’s scary.

For non-US onlookers, it has been a torrid 18 months of campaigning with mud-slinging taken to new levels.  While initially I found Donald Trump’s rants amusing and even entertaining (I actually followed him on Twitter), as the campaign progressed it became unpleasant and ugly. You never knew what vitriol was going to come spewing out of his mouth next. Hillary was right. He is a loose canon. Voting for him is risky. But I guess the voters believed that he is the lesser of two evils.

From a Biblical perspective I think I don’t think I saw too much grace in Donald Trump. A lot of arrogance, pride and determination – not an ounce of humility, but then by God’s grace there go I. My job is not to measure Donald Trump up against Biblical values. My job is to be humble myself – avoid pride and seek God first.

After all,

Daniel 2:21

“He (God) changes times and seasons; He deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.”

While the voters voted, God established.

Can’t argue with that.

# 88 of my 1000 thanks is that while all this was unfolding this morning, I was working and managed to take about 4 steps forward and NO steps back! 🙂

Hilary Clinton needs to get up today and breath.

I will be praying for both of them.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
