Transition, But I’m Ready…

1-51pm

41 workdays ago, I left the CCFm building, went straight home, finished packing and left on a journey for 32 nights away from home. There was no time to think about not doing the Rise and Shine show. I was carried away in a buzz of hectic travelling. I can’t say Rise and Shine was the last thing on my mind, but I can say it wasn’t the first.  That is all about to change. Words that will cross my lips countless times in the days ahead (I’ve already said them today):  “I just have to go and do show prep!”.  6am tomorrow morning. 107.5 Cape Town wide. 96.7 in the Fish Hoek area and www.ccfm.org.za on the world wide web!

Yesterday, we enjoyed the last day of 2013 by having lunch at Cafe Roux…this was our view…

Lunch ViewThen much later on we went for a final hour’s walk of the year. Kommetjie was our destination… here is the lighthouse, built in 1919, making in 95 years old…

Kommetjie LighthouseWe walked up the boardwalk to the road and then down into Kommetjie again. The photo shows Kom in the foreground with Noordhoek, Chapman’s Peak and Hout Bay all in the distance…

Kommetjie with Noordhoek and HoutbayYou have GOT to love Cape Town.

We stayed up to see the New Year in, quietly enjoying a movie and then watching the fireworks from our balcony. Noordhoek Beach seemed to have many a splendid one! We listened to the strains of Auld Lang Syne from a neighbour’s home and then went to bed!

I slept LATE this morning. When I woke up, I went back to the beginning. Yesterday, I was in Revelation, today, Genesis…

Back to the beginningI just love the Bible. I can’t help it. God is the same yesterday, today and forever, so I get great comfort from the Bible every single day. Today, after I read the first two verses, I wrote this:

He was there! Before the first day was created, while it was still dark and gloomy, God’s Spirit was there. Genesis 1:2 says, “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”

To hover is to wait near at hand, poised. And that is what the Spirit of God was doing before light was created. Before the first day, He was there, near at hand, poised, for something great was about to happen. Perhaps you feel today at the start of this new year, that your life is formless and empty and you feel more darkness than light. Imagine for a moment that amidst your depression, even though you cannot feel it, the Holy Spirit, the great Comforter is hovering very close to you. He knows the darkness and He knows God is about to burst forth with the creation of light. God does not want you to stay in the darkness. He wants to lift your gloom. Trust Him today for better days ahead knowing He brings life and light into your empty form, with the ever-near presence of the Holy Spirit.

So a brand new year begins. God bless you richly each and every moment of it.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
