Time To Say Thank-You!

8-50am

In February, when we started planning for Granny to move to the Ladies Christian Home, I had absolutely NO idea what to expect. I knew of the LCH. In fact, Lindsay who is the Managing Director of the home, and I got back 30 years, to when I was still a teenager and had just arrived in Cape Town. Her family attended the church I started going to and they invited me out for dinner. I remember the restaurant we went to and I felt very special.  Thirty years on and with Granny in tow, I entered the LCH to let Granny try it out for a weekend, while Mike and I went away. The same warmth I experienced three decades again expressed towards me but more so towards Granny. I captured that first day in this photo…24th January 2013. Granny, Pat Evans & Lindsay Long.

Granny Pat LinsdayThese women & all the staff at LCH, in my eyes, went above and beyond. They are so organised. It was a real blessing. I am going to go and visit them today and say thank you.

These blogs are going to all be a bit ‘grannified’ until her final farewell is over on Tuesday. Then we will be really focusing on our overseas trip. I will be trying to figure out what it takes to pack for an 11 day wintery Italian trip, followed by a 19 night cruise through cold weather into equatorial waters and finally down to sunny Cape Town.

I have said to many people who have sent condolences that this is how it is supposed to be.  Granny was old and had a good life. I once said I will only stop worrying about Granny when she was safe in the arms of Jesus. I don’t need to worry about her any more. She couldn’t communicate so I never knew what she was feeling. Is she happy? Yes! Is she in pain? No! Is she cold? No! Is she hungry? No. Is she safe? YES! Granny & I ‘talking with our eyes.’

Granny and I talking with our eyesGod loves it when we love others.

Today on Rise and Shine we are talking about the power of words.  How many words come out of your mouth each day? According to research, (Women Talk More Than Men) women speak about 20 000 words every day – men only 7000! That is remarkable!I am sure there are exceptions to the rule! But we do have to watch what we say.

Jeremiah 15:11 “Therefore, this is what the Lord says, ‘If you repent, I will restore you, that you may serve Me; if you utter worthy, not worthless words, you will be my spokesman.'”

After repentance, restoration comes! Then, if all the thousands of words you speak a day are WORTHY words and not worthless, you will be a spokesperson for God. I know I need to repent of foolish, unwise, negative, destructive words I have spoken. I want to clean up my 20 000 words a day. I want to be used by God. “Forgive me Jesus. Let my words be worthy, so I can be your spokesperson today.” In Jesus Name, Amen!

God bless you today.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
