These Wonderful People Are Here…

Yay! Stacey and Adrian arrived for the weekend.

They came early and we all went out for breakfast which was great. This afternoon Stacey and I went shopping and when we got home, the house was alive. David was at our house with his great friend Jack and there was lots of wonderful noise and activity. David played the piano. Stacey hemmed curtains – the sewing machine whirring to the background of David playing. Mike made a magnificent spaghetti bolognaise!

It’s great to have them!

#400 of my 1000 thanks is having Stace and Adrian for the weekend. Happy dance!

The other thing that Mike made today was a cage for the bird’s seed ball. The little Cape white-eyes can get in easily enough, saving their seed from the awful starlings…nice and orderly and sweet.

But while I was sitting on my bed the starlings came along and tried their utmost to get into the cage. They just needed to enter through the bottom but while I was watching they hadn’t figured that out. They did get mad at each other though and completely unbalanced the cage…fighting with each other and making an awful din!

It was very hard for them to get the seed and eventually they gave up!

High five!

I’m still clearing out and sorting stuff into boxes. In my clearing, I discovered a little New Testament that had this message in the front. Elizabeth Davies was my Mom’s maiden name…she was 14 years old when she wrote her name here…

I just love it.

My Mom was born in England and grew up at 8 Mayfield Road, Sanderstead. I found that detail on a bookmark. It’s in Croydon and can still be seen…here is the street view…the stately townhouse on the left…

Amazing.

It’s very interesting going back to where I once lived in Zimbabwe. The last house I lived in was on Hindhead Ave, Chisipite in Harare, where I went to Oriel Girls High School. It’s so interesting looking at that on Google earth. There is no street view. The red circle was my house and the red line the route I used to walk to school. The green line is the route I took to walk in the afternoon. When I was studying (at about the time my Mom gave me the New Testament), I found it great to walk and learn, so I would take my study notes and walk down to the boy’s school field and walk around learning as I went. It was very effective.

I moved from Harare to Cape Town in December 1982.

And that was when my new life began.

God is faithful!

Deuteronomy 31:8

The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

The Lord sees the future.

We step out in faith each day with Him.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
