The View from the Valley

Sunday

Dear Elsie

A beautiful sunrise this morning…

Today was the day I walked down to the beach twice. The first time was for a swim. The tide was super low, so there wasn’t too much swimming space, but I still got a good 25 minute work out in the water, which is warming nicely.

Later, I took another walk down to Woolies to buy chicken. I decided to go the way I usually take coming back, so I walked up the hill to Daisy Lane, down the lane to Hillside to the bottom section of Ravine Steps which is a very picturesque part of Fish Hoek.

Chicken and paw paw packed in my backpack and home via the beach where there was a city-wide Nippers competition going on…

Perfect day for it. The sea was beautiful…

Home along the cat walk. We had a latish lunch without David. We are all a little melancholic at the moment because David is at the bottom of the valley right now. I took his meal to him. He has to just wait for his body to slowly try dissolve the microclots so he can start feeling better. Mike had a good reading about how being in the valley means there’s a stream from which you can drink. And, the view from the valley is of the soaring mountains above. David will crawl out of the valley, hopefully soon, but this Long Covid and its symptoms are not predictable. He was doing really well for about 3 weeks until 8th October. Then he started the symptoms again and now they seem to be as worse as ever – a complete relapse. Nothing to be done except wait another day and hope for an easing. In this condition he can’t do anything to move his life forward. We can be grateful he is as resilient as he is. We are very grateful he is not depressed. Is it easy? Nope. Does he feel miff? Yup. We all do, but he is philosophical that he just has to keep going. One. Day. At. A. Time. This is not a quick process and if we are all learning anything, it’s patience and extra trust in the Lord. There is no one else to Whom we can turn. Our trust is in the Lord.

We have a good view from the valley. We will encourage ourselves with that. And every time, I look up Isaiah 40, I see the chapter title, “Comfort For God’s People.”

Isaiah 40:12
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?

Only God.

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
