The Seaview Apartment

Wednesday

Today was the day…

Mike and I started playing chess! We have not played chess for decades. David gave Mike a chess set for Christmas and today, on a whim, Mike said ‘let’s have a game’. My response was if he wins, I win and if I win, he wins. We are both pretty competitive and so we need to downscale the loss factor and just enjoy the process.

It was a good game and came down to the wire. Mike won!

The other thing that happened today is we got to see David. He drove back from Stanford to pick up his driver’s license which had arrived, so he stopped by to say hello and I got to spend 45 minutes with him before he goes off on  his extended round the Western Cape/ Eastern Cape travels. He has given Courage an old bike and they had a discussion about it before he left.

A big moment today was officially settling on a new name for the one bed unit (which we commonly called David’s place) – it is now The Seaview Apartment.  As David lived there, there were quite a few things that needed to be done to make it Airbnb-able. The bathroom window opens up onto the workshop. The window is frosted but if you opened it you saw the saw! This is the window from the workshop side…

Mike bought some blue corrugated plastic. He constructed a frame and put the screen onto it so there’s still airflow from the top.

This is what it looks like from inside the bathroom.

Then Megan moved into it! Who’s Megan? She’s the missionary that came to us through Airbnb for a few days. She was staying in the Little Lookout and today I said if she wanted to stay longer, she could move up to The Seaview Apartment. Win! She’s in! She’s here until Tuesday. She may stay longer but I haven’t published the Airbnb profile, so she can stay as long as she likes.  She’s very sweet.  I don’t know much about her circumstances or plans, but it’s good to have her.

Now I’ve got the Little Lookout open.

The wind has been strong today, but tomorrow it looks like it abates a little – whether or not it is enough to be go for a dip remains to be seen. We’ll decide in the morning.

A good day.

Philippians 2:13

For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
