The Roof is On

Friday

Today was the day…

Our building got its roof. It was a bit of a surprise for me because I thought today the roof sheeting arrived and tomorrow they put it on. I went down to the site mid-afternoon and voila, the roof was going on. A team of two guys was carrying these 7m long IBR steel corrugated roof sheets up the mountain…

The went all the way up to behind the house…

They were then passed up to the team on the roof…

Who were putting them in place and screwing them down…

Mike and I enjoyed watching the process and seeing the house from a different perspective. This is from the Simon’s Town side. See the roof of the original cottage – it’s just beyond the scaffold.

This is from behind on the Fish Hoek side…you can just see the roof of the original cottage below the balcony.

We are amazed that we have got so far. There was a lot going on at the site today. The window installation on our floor was being finished off….

All the internal doors arrived and got their first coat of paint…

We are well on the way to getting it weather proof, although the top floor still needs windows and doors.

I had a quiet day with a little work and a lot of rest, although I did walk just over 4km. I felt better for it.

And now it’s the weekend!
