The Long Awaited Theremin

Wednesday

Today was the day…

Of my sister Anne’s surgery. We are so grateful that all went well. The doctors found no other signs of cancer apart from the 4mm tumour they first saw in her duodenum. The Whipple procedure was done and she came through it well. She is now in ICU for a few days. When I called a short while ago, the Sister said she was fine – just drowsy.  So we hope for the best and thank the Lord for answered prayers.

I worked this morning and then this afternoon, Mike and I did some accurate measuring of the bathrooms at Echo for tile shopping.  The house is looking big…

Mike was busy sketching Julian’s bathroom. While he did that, I went out on Julian’s balcony, which is at the very top of the photo above.

This is his balcony door taken from the pole above…there is no balustrade yet so caution is required…

Of course things will change when the balustrade comes – it will obstruct the view slightly. I put a chair in the corner and sat and soaked it all up. Suddenly Mike appeared at the door “you’ve abandoned me!” I was seduced by the view, so he sat down and enjoyed it for a few minutes as well.  There are LOTS of finished to do. They are getting done one by one and I’m pleased to see a platform taking shape outside the front door.

After we finished, we stopped in to see David. Yesterday the long-awaited Theremin arrived. It goes back to 1928 when Leon Theremin patented a musical device that is played without touching it. You can imagine how difficult it is. David has managed to get a rusty version of Baa Baa Black Sheep out of it. Mike made some noise… watch…

David showing how it’s done…

The Theremin from the front..

David ordered it a long time ago – priority delivery through Fedex. He should have ordered it regular delivery – it took so long to come, but eventually appeared at our front door yesterday!

Early blog because Julian is flying in this evening.
