Echo Catch-Up

Tuesday

Today was the day…

I had a busy work morning. We then went to CTM to pick up some cheap tiles for under the stairs before going to Echo to see progress. To get inside you had to walk the plank.

Firstly this is what under the stairs looks like today….the grey tiles are the ones we just bought….

I’m actually really excited about this little space. With no door and a couple of cushions, it will be a cosy spot for Elsie to visit when she comes. It’s an Elsie-sized space – she can walk right in!

The rest of the house is coming along. Almost all the tiles have been done on our floor.  This is looking down the passage …

Off the above passage is our bathroom. This is looking through the door. The shower will be right ahead…

Looking into the bathroom to the right is the second part where the basin unit will be under the window…

Meanwhile, up the stairs you arrive on the top landing outside the bathroom door on the left and Julian’s entrance on the right…

Looking down from the middle landing you have the stairs… and the door at the bottom is the main entrance.

Mike walking the plank out…

Also outside, Werner has started reconstructing the chute…this is going to carry the rocks and rubble off site so we get proper access again…

Once that is done, we can start considering how we will landscape.

It takes a lot to build a house. We are still amazed that we have got this far.

We had more heavy rain overnight and it was very cold this morning. We heard yesterday that there was a flurry of snow on Table Mountain. It’s not often that happens. Once the clouds lift, we may see some snow on the distant mountains.

After Echo, I came home to do some work and am now going to put the dinner on.
