Thursday
Today was the day…
We arrived at Echo bright and early and all traipsed up the hill to see how our new wall tiles for the bedroom bathrooms will look. Mike and I had decided upon these a little while ago, proclaiming confidently they were perfect. We ordered 16 boxes, bought 8 boxes back with us (broke 5 tiles – that trip) and stored them in the garage. However, after Werner started putting the delicious marble tiles on the top floor bathroom wall, everything began to unravel in our minds. We lined the tiles up and I took a photo…this is Julian’s en-suite bathroom with his floor tile (David’s hand!)
Julian loves the marble looking tile but he was okay with this. In the photo the wall tile looks a bit brown but it’s actually pretty grey. I was okay with it too – we would find a nice matching mosaic tile for the shower and all would be well. The decision was made.
But Mike was not happy. He now wanted the marble look! Yeah!! I loved that from the moment I saw it and it was why I chose it for the top floor family bathroom.
On the way home, I told him that one of the many things I appreciate about him is his quest for perfection. I’m happy to compromise. I’ll get used to anything. Mike won’t!
I LOVE the marble look tile, but we need to get a tile for the shower floor, so the three of us (Julian, Mike and I) trundled across to Tile Africa in Kenilworth and made our choice.
We delivered a couple of boxes with the mosaic to Echo and went to see today’s progress. This is the 2nd floor family bathroom wall and floor tiles, looking great.
Our floor’s balcony roof is on. This is taken from Julian’s level…
The house from the road.
I didn’t do too much work today, but I did get to gym.
This evening we went out for dinner. After we got home, I came upstairs to do the blog, when I realised I’d left my reading glasses in the car. Off I went to get them, with Mike commenting that it was as well we were not yet at Echo. If I forget my glasses in the car, it’s a hike down 77 steps and up again! See it as free exercise! Add strong winds and pouring rain and maybe I’ll make do without them!
Today Mike saw his surgeon. He had a check-up and is all good. He had bladder cancer for a week back in 2011 (I wrote about it here.) Grateful! Next year he turns 70. If I can be as healthy as he is when I am his age, I will be very happy indeed!

Hebrews 6:19-20
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.
The best is yet to come.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
