Super Saturday

Yip, that’s what it’s been. I woke up around 7am and Mike and I met Julian for a bite at the Stag. We weren’t there long – about an hour. After getting home,  Mike decided he wouldn’t mind having a round of golf. He booked his tee off time and then we both did some work. When it was time for him to leave, he dropped me at the gym (Julian uses our second car while he’s here, so we only had one car).

Today I was due to run 5km. I was getting into it and closing in on 3km – about 100m before – when the treadmill ‘rebooted!’ It stopped suddenly and with it, I did too!  So my 5km became a 3k and I went and did the circuit. I did a few other machines as well. It’s quite interesting being a gym ‘newbie’. The best thing to do is to watch what others do. After watching others using different apparatus, I soon have the courage to try them out as well. Hence I have expanded my repertoire of various exercise machines. There’s a pull up machine that you actually kneel on. I tried it (timidly) a while ago. Today I decided to see how much stronger I have got since then. I could do about 5 pull ups on it last time I tried. Today I did two sets of 10. It is possible that last time I had the weight too heavy and this time I had put it on a lighter setting. What it does show, is that I have more confidence in using it.

Thereafter it was off to the pool. There was not a free lane so I ended up sharing with two kids who were playing at one end. It meant I couldn’t swim right to the end, so I really just warmed up a bit until another lane fell vacant. Then I swam 40 lengths.  It was great.

#571 of my 1000 thanks is that I can swim. The water level of the pool is dropping. When it drops to 80cm, they will close the pool.  I don’t know when that will be, but I’m seeing it lower each time I go, so I’m grateful each time I get to swim. 🙂

On completion, I had a shower and got back into my gym clothes for the walk home. I ordered a smoothie on my way out. The day was sunny and warm and the short walk home was without incident. I passed the road works and was struck by the print on the side of the pipes soon to buried in the ground.

I had a very chilled afternoon. Mike was still out playing golf. I watched a bit of TV and Stacey called so we had a chat. By then Mike had arrived home. Julian soon arrived. Mike went to sleep and Julian and I drove back to Echo and then walked to Kalk Bay where we met Mike for pizza. We walked on the finally completed sidewalk between Clovelly and Kalk Bay.  It’s fantastic. Such a pleasant walk.

Super Saturday.

Psalm 32:8

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

What great words.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
