Storm Damage

Monday

Today was the day…

We woke up to heavy winds and driving rain. When my phone rang at 6:45am and it was David, my heart immediately started beating a little faster. As soon as I heard his voice, I knew he was fine. But things at the house weren’t so great. Water was pouring in through the lounge ceiling. David lives above the lounge and his level was dry. He said he had woken up at about 4am to two enormous bangs and breaking glass. He had gone to investigate. The TV was still there. No one had broken in, so he went back to bed. When he woke up later and went downstairs, he found the water. We got dressed and went down there to take a look. Using my cell phone for light I went around the far side of the house and soon discovered scaffolding planks had been swept off the scaffold for the build and had been jammed into corner of the laundry roof. As daylight arrived, we went round the back to see what exactly had happened. A number of planks had become like missiles and shot into the roof in a couple of places. One had also blown into the neighbour’s window. That was the breaking glass. The damage was minor, all things considered and Werner wasted no time in getting all the repairs done before the next downpour.

Because we had storm damage I was able to get Marvellous Maids to send a cleaner to mop up – essential service and all that. They come tomorrow. 🙂

I went to Constantiaberg Radiology department and had the fine needle aspiration to my thyroid nodule. It’s not the most comfortable procedure but it’s better than the dentist. The pathologist was there, not to give a definitive diagnosis, but to ensure sufficient tissue was collected. This meant that under ultrasound, the doctor had to go in and dig around in my neck at least 4 times. The good news is that they spoke of the tissue looking normal. My GP should get the full report tomorrow.  I stopped at the shops on the way home and to reward myself for good behaviour, I bought myself these beauties…can this possibly be the only time I’ve bought myself flowers? I think so.

I am grateful for this day.

Corona – last night the President addressed the nation and a week today we drop to lock down level 3. This means that, we can officially continue building.

Psalm 55:17

Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.
