The 18th May 2018 has been a day that has been on our minds for about 8 months. When Stacey’s first scan pitched this day as her due date, it has been the main marker for 2018.
The news from today is that it won’t be the day our grand-daughter is born! That day is still to come. Stacey had a check up. All is well. I don’t think the waiting is ever easy, but it soon passes, labour happens, the baby is born and a new happy normal of parenting starts to unfold. We’ll wait and see what happens.
Psalm 31:19
How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.
The other thing I knew about this day is that it would be the day before the big royal wedding. As Prince Harry prepares to get married to Meghan Markle tomorrow, and as the press go bonkers completely ‘over-reporting’ every single last detail, what came to mind is how we always look forward to the wedding with such excitement, but in the end, we can’t wait for it to be over! I am very certain Harry and Meghan cannot wait for tomorrow night when they will crawl into bed and it will all be over. Oh, how I feel for Meghan. I really hope she takes the advice of one of the senior royals who once told Kate that when the press spews out endless pages of ugliness and unpleasant gossip, it’s best just not to read or watch it. I think it was Prince Charles who told Kate to stop reading the paper or watching the news for a few days. This too will pass.
Meghan is used to being in the public eye. She is used to the spotlight. She is used to acting a part and she certainly is used to the cameras, but I don’t think even she could ever have comprehended the enormous pressure that comes with the detailed scrutiny of the British royal household. She could never have imagined how the paparazzi leeches would do anything to get something, egging on her half siblings to spill some juicy gossip and bellowing her father’s news as loud as possible. She has to take a deep breath and simply say, ‘this too shall pass.’
I think Harry and Meghan will be a formidable team for good and if they can keep that goal in mind, they will blossom.
Changing the subject, in order to bring me to my picture of the day…yesterday when I had tea with Riana she was telling me about this woman (in her 50s) who has this fabulous Instagram channel (I’m not on Instagram). She went onto show me how this woman does hand stands against the wall. Ever the competitive one, I thought I must try this. This is prototype 1! It will improve as I get stronger…
It was exhausting and I was only up there until I heard the camera go ‘click’. I felt like saying “take the photo Mike, take the photo!” before I collapse in a heap. In future photos, I hope to be a bit closer to the wall and the tiles are a good measure. (It actually is pretty pathetic – It looks better than it is!) Very good for shoulder strength, core and posture.
#664 of my 1000 thanks is for a quiet Friday evening – about to watch The Good Wife.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
