Saturday
Today was the day..
We went snorkeling at Windmill Beach. This is the little beach below Simon’s Town golf course. It was a spectacular day and so we went with David mid afternoon. The beach is idyllic. I had a bit of a swim and did some snorkeling as well. The number of fish! There were shoals of them. I swam towards them and then glided and as I reached them, they all just parted. It was amazing to be so very close to them. It’s a lovely spot…
There were a whole lot of other things that happened today. Being a perfect day with hardly a breath of wind, it was a good day for a spot of fishing and leisure crafting across False Bay…there was a lot of water traffic…
And a good day for a light airplane ride. Can you spot the plane? It is tiny – just a faint line.
Our morning entertainment was a walk to the village for breakfast at Chalk & Cheese. After we got home, I worked, actually for longer than I planned (more than 3 hours). It was great also to have a catch up phone call with Stacey.
Just before we went snorkeling, I looked on Flight Radar and spotted two planes approaching Cape Town. Mike picked them up through the telescope and we watched them land – they are visible until moments before they touch down. It’s absolutely remarkable what can be seen through the telescope. Suddenly there’s a whole new world that is visible. It reminded me of how God sees all the details that we don’t see.
After dinner and watching Grand Designs, I got a message on our local whatsapp group that International Space Station would be visible overhead just after 8pm.
We saw it clearly as it raced across the sky. It is at an altitude of 428km and is moving at an incredible 27556 km/hour. Apparently, we will get another shot at seeing it tomorrow at 8:50pm for 4 minutes and on Monday at 8:02pm. Mike meantime, picked up the live feed which is fascinating. The link is here.
The end of a varied and interesting day.
Psalm 70:4
Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in you; and let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!”
The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
