Smile Comparison

Today I had a major orthodontist appointment. I have been feeling quite Bugs-Bunny-ish with the growing gaps either side of my front teeth. Today, I had one side closed and it was the side I wasn’t expecting. I went with low expectations. But he did what he said he was going to do. He closed the big gap. He gave me a tooth where I’ve never had one. I have always had a tooth missing on the right side of my big tooth. This morning, I took a photo of before…

And this was after…

So he gave me a tooth on the right side and built up my right big tooth.

I did not expect this. I was so shocked. Next time he will build up the tooth on the left side. The whole reason why I’m having this done is literally because it’s either braces now or dentures later. I’ve chosen the braces. This is more than cosmetic. While he is doing all this cosmetic work now which is great,  once he’s moved the teeth, I’ll head into surgery to tilt my jaw so that my bite is corrected. This will result in me not biting my top palate which I have been doing since I got big teeth.  I asked the doctor today how the timeline was going. He effused about our progress  – ‘we are way ahead of schedule’ he said.  The surgery he said would be end of this year or early next. Initially, he said the treatment would be 22 – 26 months. It looks like 22 months is more accurate, taking us to September next year. Because he’s closing all the gaps, it makes the treatment far more palatable! 😉 They have put very tight wires on and said to expect a lot more pain. I’m bracing myself!

Really grateful for today.

We had another hiccup today with the neighbour’s permission. One of the neighbours said they would sign but now have come up with a lengthy objection regarding the parking. It’s really not fair because that side of the road has at 4-6 metres of ‘road verge’ for their parking and we have 2m. He’s complaining because he can’t see oncoming traffic when he reverses out of his garage. He can’t see because he built walls on the council land which obstructs his view. Because of this, we have to excavate a whole chunk of extra land to  make on-kerb parking. Mike has a map that shows how much his (and all the houses on that side) have got for their parking and how little we have for ours. So, Mike is busy writing an email. These things are all resolvable, I tell you.

It was another busy day.

Psalm 138:2

I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word above all Your name.

Amen.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

I wish I could have got there today, but it’s not happening much this week. Did a short walk though.

Braces:

Day 185. It was a good braces day!
