Noise Complaints!

Oh dear!  At our building site, to put the piles in, a compressor is needed and when it is on, it makes a racket at road level. David lives in the current cottage and has given a classical guitar lesson with it on and he says with doors closed, it’s not so bad. But today, two things happened that made us realise other people are being affected by the noise more than we knew.

  1. The police arrived! Yip. Someone called the police. They arrived  and spoke to David. Then they went up to the building site and spoke to the foreman. He explained the process and that they will be finished in four weeks. Four weeks! The police literally shrugged and said there was nothing illegal. It was building work and allowed during office hours.
  2. A letter arrived from another house a few doors down, also complaining of the noise. I do feel sorry for him because he works from home and so do I. I have contacted the company director to ask for a possible solution.  I’ve also messaged the complainant.

The realities of building. This is the noisiest it is going to get. Compressors are bad. I hate construction noise so feel very sympathetic. We have lived amidst the construction of the nearby roads for two years. It is irritating but eventually it ends.

Good news! The neighbours across the road are home and happy to sign our plans. That’s FIVE. One to go and we heard from that neighbour today. He said he is still investigating and asking advice. I’m hoping he will sign our no objection form soon. If he doesn’t, it will just delay the process but in the end it should get done. We  may also end up tweaking the plans to get rid of two of the objections. We have a way forward.

I saw this today and thought it relevant!

I worked 9 hours. Managed to squeeze in breakfast with Julian as well as a walk. I certainly haven’t had too much downtime.

1 Peter 24-25

As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever.”

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
