Quiet Friday

Friday

Today was the day…

I only had a few hours work, which was great. One of the things that stands out for me today was the sunrise…

The other thing of significance was Mike and I rested this morning. We lay in and did a few other admin kind of things. Then I worked. I did some reading and sat on the balcony drinking tea. Right now, I’m still sitting on the balcony.  There is a gentle breeze.

The house next door on the Simon’s Town side is occupied by holiday makers. They have some funky music going and there is the sound of enthusiastic children, sometimes playing, sometimes splashing in the pool. They are enjoying the view and the good weather and one of them has just said, ‘we’re living our best life’.  Yup! I’m glad. There have been a number of visitors to that house and also to the one on the mountain. We occasionally see the guests that visitor the mountain cabin (more than 100 steps to get up there). We see them sitting on the balcony enjoying a higher view than ours. They come for a couple of days and then leave. Then we see the cleaner arrive and all the linen appears flapping in the wind on the lines which are strung across the balcony. The laundry dries in no time and is quickly whisked back inside and put back in place. I soon see the cleaner making her way down the stairs again and in time another couple will arrive. It makes for useful watching how they handle their holiday makers. We can do the same when the cottage is ready. Talking of which, the cottage is looking good but there is still tons of work to be done. We have decided to paint the rest of the downstairs. The kitchen should be finished by next week.

Courage has been working hard. We have a three-prong approach to what needs to happen here. Whatever work is done it needs to contribute to:

  1. Making our new house functional.
  2. Renovating the cottage so it can become rentable.
  3. Securing our boundary.

The third aspect starts in earnest on Monday when fencing materials arrive. Courage will bring a friend and he will work with Mike to start digging holes. When the material arrives, Courage and the friend will start lugging it up the hill.

It’s remarkable to us that we got this house built. It was such a challenge to go from this…

to this…

If this can be done, renovating the current cottage is a doddle right?!

Matthew 21:21

Jesus told them, “If you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more.”

Amen!

The best is yet to come.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
