Porch is Done!

Thursday

Today was the day…

The porch got finished…although I think it may need another coat of paint. Mike and Courage have worked on it for the last couple of weeks, getting the bachelor protected from the winter rains…this was the start of the project – where the little side wall was built.

Then a more extensive doorstep foundation needed to be thrown…

More excavation around the entrance…

Side wall complete…

Construction under way…

Mike did a lot of sawing to make the lattice…his radial arm saw is about 38 years old.

Almost done…

And now it looks pretty good…

We still have loads of landscaping to go but at least the rain shouldn’t get into the bachelor. Mike and Courage will also be making another one for our floor to also offer some protection from the wind. They did a good job!

This morning, Mike and I tried our late visit to the beach. I did some work between just after 7am and 8:30am and then we walked down for a swim. While the sea was still cold, the sun was warm and my feet were not numb while walking home! Surf forecast say the sea temperature was 13.2, slightly cooler than yesterday’s 13.9C. It was a beautiful day, although the evening temperatures are definitely dropping.

I did just under 5 hours of work.

Valerie-Gail posted this on Facebook today – quite thought provoking.

Hebrews 12:14

Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
