Mingling with the Methodists!

1-52pm

The day began at the beach! Mike & I went for a walk/run/swim after coffee before 7am – while Granny was still sleeping…it was lovely down at Fish Hoek….

FH BeachWe got home just before 8 and had a mad rush to try and get to the Fish Hoek Methodist Church before 8-30am. David was being ‘commissioned’ at the start of this new year for his part in the worship team/youth work. But there is no such thing as a ‘mad rush’ with Granny. So Mike went down to the church and I got Granny sorted and went late.  It meant I was only away from her for 45 minutes or so. That was great! It got me thinking that instead of missing church (something I have been doing a lot of lately), I should only go for part of the service. The services at the Baptist Church which we usually attend are most times 1 & 1/2 hours. I had propped Granny up in her chair, with weetbix, toast & tea, in front of the TV with the sound down and that was how I found her on my return!  She has been sleeping well with her new pill.

Church was good…

Church Got home, watched cricket and had lunch and now I’m sitting out on the patio doing the blog and am about to start show prep. David is here for free food, TV, internet connection and laundry.  🙂 He took this photo of me a few minutes ago…

MeYesterday we skyped with Stacey, which was L-O-N-G overdue. Miss her! They are enjoying life in Cambodia. Stacey says the people are so friendly and appreciative. I’m happy they are happy!

Peter spent last night in Hermanus. He ate the ‘padkos’ I made him, while sitting on the beach with the tea (oops…sea) lapping at his feet. Now that’s what I call a hip 82 year old! I tried to call him earlier but couldn’t get hold of him.

The sermon this morning was a good one for this New Year. Ronnie Cawood, the Minister at FH Methodist preached on Isaiah 43:1 which says, “Israel, the Lord who created you says, ‘Do not be afraid, I will save you. I have called you by name; you are Mine.'”

It was a good reminder that God has redeemed us. He has summoned us by name. We are His. We belong to Him. He knows the future and He will take us through tough times. He will take us through painful moments. There are no guarantees in life, except that God will be with us and He will see us through. That’s pretty much all the guarantee we need for 2013 & beyond!

Blog done! Now onto show prep for tomorrow. You can tune in between 6 & 9am on 107.5 Cape Town wide or 96.7 in the Fish Hoek area. If you are anywhere else in the world, be logged onto www.ccfm.org.za between 6 & 9am GMT +2.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
