Mike’s “Whale”

Wednesday

Today was the day…

Our solar hot water cylinder arrived and was installed. This actually means that we now have hot water at the new build. There is only one working shower at the moment and that’s in the basement where a couple of the workers stay when the weather is bad – they also stayed during lock down level 4 so the work could continue. We got the toilet and shower functional before they moved in, albeit with no hot water, which couldn’t have been fun. Now there is hopefully hot water. I went up the hill at the back to take a photo of our solar geyser in place…

Maybe this photo shows it better…large parts of the house are still boarded up following the inclement weather.

One of the things Mike designed for the house was a whale-shaped facade. To try get the design created in light steel was a challenge, but it does bring a smile to my face. It looks more like a jet. When Werner was securing the roof the evening before one of the recent storms, he took a photo of the facade from the roof…(he actually admitted it looked quite cool!) Certainly adds some character – but admittedly more like a jet than a whale!

It can really only be seen from the sea, although Julian said he could see it from the Sunny Cove pedestrian bridge.

Our consultant electrician met Mike on site to go over Mike’s electrical work so far. Mike got (almost) full marks. He has overlooked one thing which could have turned into an inconvenience if left undone.  We will have a stair case going up to Julian’s level. It needs a light switch that can be turned on and off both at the top of the stairs and at the bottom of the stairs. So Mike needs to do that. The electrician was very impressed with Courage and said, “I may offer him a job!” Not so fast! He’s Mike’s right-hand man!

When I was on site this afternoon, they were busy putting the roof on the front of Julian’s bedroom…

Back at home, I had an easy work day and did some cleaning.

Corona stats – July 2020 – We are 9th in the world having overtaken the UK yesterday. We will probably overtake Spain today and if we get more than 13200 cases today, we’ll overtake Mexico and go to 7th in the world. They say we’ll peak towards the end of this month or early next. The sooner the better.

James 1:2-3

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

For me the key word here is FAITH. In these trying times we need to have faith in the One who controls the world. There are no surprises with God and while we know He could kill the Corona virus with a whisper, we push through trusting Him in the face of this trial.

The best is yet to come.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx:)
