Mike’s Left Eye

It’s horrible when things happen to your body that are completely out of your control. That’s what has happened with Mike’s left eye. We went to the ophthalmic surgeon on Monday 20th November and since then the vision in his left eye has deteriorated. Eventually, he dropped the Dr an email and he wrote back and said make an appointment, it sounds like you have macular oedema. So today, he fitted us in…

This was the swelling behind Mike’s eye on 20th….

This is what it looked like today…

The doctor said he now needs the next stage of treatment which is monthly injections into the eye. I know. It sounds awful. Apparently it is not as bad as it sounds. They put in drops to anesthetize the eye and then inject a tiny bit of medication into the swelling part. This is the solution to preventing the condition from deteriorating. Bad news is, in order for the treatment to work, you need to have them monthly initially, so we have booked for -7th December, 18th January and 15th February to start with. On Tuesday Mike has to have an eye angiogram, so we will be backwards and forwards to the Peninsula Eye Clinic. Dr. Lapere said he will be seeing a lot of us over the next year. Another unexpected angle to 2018.

We trust the Lord. He knows.

#493 of my 1000 thanks is for a treatment for this. If we do nothing, Mike will probably lose the sight in his left eye. We are very grateful.  Also so happy that my job is not as manic as it was a year ago. I have time to go to these appointments. It’s a pleasure being married to Mike. The idea of the injections don’t phase him. 🙂

1 John 1:5

This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.

After his first injection next week, on the same day we meet another expert at the building site for more opinion on how to get a house built behind the current house on such a steep slope with ridiculously difficult access. No quick solutions.

Today is 30th November. We arrived home from our holiday a month ago today. I have transitioned back into the real world very well. No regrets!

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
