Mike’s Birthday

I am posting a very early blog as I have got quite a bit to accomplish this afternoon.  My alarm went off at 5am. I hopped out of bed and hit the kitchen for the coffee run. I made us both cappuccino and gave Mike a ‘goodie bag’ with some of his favourite things. It was a good start to the day. Mike has never really been big on birthdays. Today is the 32nd birthday I have celebrated with him. We have never had one apart. I know there was one occasion when I was out-of-town on business on the night of the 27th February, but I came home in the afternoon.  God has been so very good to us.

#582 of my 1000 thanks is for 32 birthdays with Mike.

By 8am Mike had teed off at Rondebosch Golf Club. We had an extremely slow four-ball ahead of us, so we took the opportunity of relaxing between holes and enjoying the scenery…Mike on our golf chariot.

The day was glorious.

The golf had ups and downs but he did par every short hole (par 3) and there were 4 of them.  One of the funniest things is this guy who drives around the course with a spray gun. He holds it as if it is a high-caliber machine gun and he just loves the reaction he gets. He very happily posed for a photo….

Very fun. So we were home just before 1pm. My plan for the rest of the day is to get some work done. I also need to buy cat food and plan dinner. I was not planning on going to gym today. I know. It is almost a shock for me to miss, but last time I went and did 18 holes with Mike and went to gym afterwards, I was shattered. Today’s golf was a lot less strenuous because we used the cart, but I still feel as if I’ve had a bit too much sun and I am forcing myself not to go. “Helga,” I said, “Don’t go to gym. Your body needs a rest.”. Yes Ma’am! As hard as it is, I will not go today. (I think I must be addicted). Definitely won’t go then! Don’t let anything control you.

So it’s just work and shopping. The blog is done. Julian arrives tonight as well. Tomorrow is David’s birthday and tomorrow night is a very special dinner.

Psalm 86:11

Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your Name.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
