David’s Birthday

Today we celebrate David’s 27th birthday. He has grown into a mature, thoughtful, funny adult and we love him!

I have spoken to him but we only get to see him in a couple of hours. We are going out for a special dinner, which I’ll write about tomorrow.

#583 of my 1000 thanks – 27 birthdays celebrated! Praise the Lord.

Last night I woke up after 1am with terrible tummy cramps. Mike’s birthday yesterday saw me eating some rubbish and it did not agree with me. Anyway, I eventually got over them and while there have been twinges during the day, they have not been as bad as last night. As a result, I’ve eaten very little today. I had two cappuccinos, a banana (before gym) and 4.5 almonds. Yes, 4.5. There were 5 almonds left and when I ate them, I discovered one was only half. I’m not going to eat again until this evening’s lovely dinner.  I will be starving by the time we get there.

After tossing a bit in the night, I woke up around 7am. By just after 8am I was at work. I worked until 10am and then went to gym. I was quite sluggish, not only from the unsettled tummy, but also from some crazy squats I did on Tuesday that have left me super stiff. I took it easy.

  • Cycle 10km 25 minutes, 41 seconds
  • Walked 2.5km in a leisurely 24 minutes, 45 seconds
  • Swam 50 lengths in about 40 minutes, with stops in-between.

I got one length down to 30 seconds, but as I did more and more obviously I got slower. The number of strokes per length were first 37 (I don’t know how I was swimming!) I got it down to 30 and today got it to 27, so that’s progress as well.  I’m learning the technical aspects of swimming that make you more efficient in the water. So interesting to learn a new skill like this.

Next week we plan on being out-of-town for a few days. I hope to get Mike to video me swimming when we are away. Then I’ll know what I look like, instead of what I ‘think’ I look like. I am under no illusions that I look sylph-like in the water.

Today I did feel I got into a sort of rhythm and swam about ten lengths without stopping.

Ephesians 4:7

To each one of us grace has been given as Christ appointed it.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
